Changes retained for predefined Dataverse security roles
Product team has made a change to predefined and imported Solution security role updates within the Power Platform. Power Platform administrators are now able to update predefined Dataverse security roles’ privileges or imported Solution security role’s privileges, and these updates will not be reverted to system settings during subsequent system/solution updates. This change allows for use of the system’s predefined security roles, such as Environment Maker and Basic User, which can be customized based on business needs. Updated predefined security roles can be reset to the default system settings by removing all the updates.
Admins can update the system predefined security roles (for example, Environment Maker or Basic User), and their changes won’t be reverted back to system settings during a system update.
This update allows the admin to modify the predefined roles’ privileges to manage their users’ data access without the need to make a copy of the role and modify it.
This addresses the following:
- If a privilege is removed by the customers (Active Customization) or using solution import, the next Microsoft solution upgrade brings the privilege back.
- If the customer removes a privilege, there is no way to restore it.
