Dynamics 365 v9: Limitations Of Unified Interface

On the other day, I had a conversation with Andrew Ly (MVP) and he shared with me that there are a couple of well-known functionalities which are not available in Unified Interface. Then, I started looking into this matter and I was just stunned!!

Limitations of Unified Interface:

  • Advanced Find is missing (Global as well as on the list views).
  • Bulk Update records by selecting two or more records is not available.
  • Run Workflow is missing in a view.
  • No filters available on columns in a view.
    • After adding \’Editable Grid\’ control, filter feature will be available.
  • Run Report is missing from view.
  • Bulk Delete is missing in a view.
  • Quick create for Activities and Custom entities is not available.
  • Sitemap Designer behavior is not consistent. I configuredCampaign, Quick Campaign and Work order, but they are not appearing in the App while browsing.
  • [Misunderstanding, my bad!] Through App/Sitemap Designer, I didn\’t expose the \’Case\’ entity. But, \’Case\’ entity is marked for \’Quick Create\’ and Security role has the access to it. So, I can create the case record through \’Quick Create\’ button. Make sure Security role is updated for the App accordingly.

I\’ll keep updating this list based on new findings. Ciao!

    Is there also an issue with how sync’d emails appear in the activity timeline for contacts and accounts?

    I’ve noticed that in the default app UI the emails which form part of a conversation are nested together correctly. However, these same emails in the Unified Interface are not nested based on conversation. Are you able to confirm?

    I’m having a similar issue getting Facility/Equipment to show in my app. I get an error stating “The Facility/Equipment entity isn’t valid for the chosen client, and won’t be shown at runtime.” Can you guide me as to how I adjust the security so it shows up?

    Here are a few more for your list;

    Cannot view Audit
    Letter and Fax activities cannot be shown
    No ‘Share’ button
    Cannot merge records

    A correction on your quick create problem, they can be shown you have to ensure your entities are configured for quick create, the quick create form is in your app and for activities you configure the timeline control to use the quick create form and not main.

  5. for Unified interface on-premise in personalized setting options language change option is not available. can anybody correct me if i am wrong and any fix available for this ???

  6. i am unable to share screen short here
    yes i have installed language pack it is working fine for classic interface but language change option is not available in Unified Interface for crm on-premise
